December

Food Bag Packing

Volunteers help pack food bags with all of the holiday fixings.

Toy Shop Setup

An important step in helping the most people at Christmas time is preparing-these preparation events occur during the weeks prior to Christmas Distribution.

  • Toy Shop Set-Up volunteers arrange toys by grouping them in gender and age categories. This allows future volunteers to act swiftly when families come to choose which toys they'd like under the tree.

  • Food Bag Packing volunteers sort Christmas dinner supplies by household size and fill bags that get picked up with toys a few days before Christmas.

Christmas Distribution

Low income families who previously were qualified to receive assistance, in the form of food and presents, come to our Distribution center the week prior to Christmas.  Volunteers assist these clients by touring them through the Toy Shop, to choose which toys their children will get, and getting the correct food bag for their household size.

Other Programs

Adopt-a-Family

This is a program that involves providing Christmas gifts and food for a family that has suffered severe hardship or tragedy within the past year. The needs of these families are more than what our normal Christmas Assistance can provide. Some of these families have had their homes destroyed due to fire, lost loved ones or have members who are terminally ill, or suffered other tragedies.

Angel Tree

Angel Tree is a program that provides toys or winter hats, gloves, scarves or clothing, for families in need. We provide sponsors with "Angel Tree Tags" that list specific items/sizes. These items are then put out at our Annual Christmas Toyshop so that parents can choose them as holiday gifts for their children.

Operation Family Time

We are asking those who are able, individually, or in organized groups, to donate specific items like a family friendly DVD, an appropriate game and/or a chapter book to encourage families to spend time together by sharing quality time, (watching a movie, playing a game or reading a book together.) We are also asking for donations of non-perishable snack type items (popcorn, chips, brownie or cookie mix) and drinks, (hot chocolate, juice boxes or soda) to enhance the family sharing experience. We will provide the bags; help us promote family this holiday season. Let us know how many bags you wish to provide and we will drop them off
