Adopt A Kettle

Your small group can make a BIG difference by
choosing one location to "relay" ring for the day.

Will your group adopt a kettle for

one day this holiday season?

With the Holiday season comes the tradition of Red Kettles outside of shops, malls and grocery stores across Monroe County. The donations we collect during Kettle Season mean so much to the thousands of people in Rochester who come to us for help all year round.

Sadly, The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester has faced a shortage of ringers over the last several years. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we've struggled to regain enough ringers to fill our 50 kettle locations from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. This directly impacts all of us, since our collections stay here to serve our own community.

During this giving season we ask that you and a group of friends, family, or co-workers Adopt a Kettle for one day! 2 people...2 hours at a time...in just 4 shifts is all it takes to make a huge difference!

HOW "ADOPT A KETTLE" WORKS:

Two ringers take 1st Shift: 11am to 1pm

Two ringers take 2nd Shift: 1pm to 3pm

Two ringers take 3rd Shift: 3pm to 5pm

Two ringers take 4th Shift: 5pm to 7pm

What is my group has more/less than eight people?

Groups with more than 8 people can Adopt-a-Kettle and ring with more than 2 people per shift, as long as their kettle is an outdoor location. You can also adopt a kettle for more than one day and help keep our kettles standing even longer!

Groups with less than 8 people can choose to ring as singles for a portion of their shift, and have a partner overlap a portion to cover the 8 hours of a kettle day. Let us know if you need a creative idea to help your group achieve it's goal of adopting a kettle for a day.

BONUS! All groups who Adopt-a-Kettle will be featured on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages (if desired) with tagged photos! Just call Sheila to coordinate.
