Rochester will be in the direct path of a rare solar eclipse on April 8th. In celebration of this once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, The Salvation Army of Rochester is hosting a campaign that mixes this phenomenon into supporting our community. “Eclipsing Hunger” combines a fundraiser and non-perishable food drive with the distribution of FREE of AAS/ISO certified solar eclipse glasses!
Your Organization is welcome to participate in this unique effort by serving as an “Eclipsing Hunger” partner. You do so by purchasing a fundraiser box (or boxes) of AAS/ISO certified solar eclipse glasses from The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester. Optionally, you can run a food drive where people can exchange a non-perishable food item for a FREE pair of your solar eclipse glasses. This can be internal only, with existing clients, or to encourage business neighbors or new customers to visit your location.
However you chose to distribute the solar eclipse glasses, purchasing through our fundraiser will generate tremendous goodwill to your patrons, employees and their families while simultaneously helping address food insecurity in Greater Rochester.
The Salvation Army has ordered 100 boxes of solar eclipse glasses, with 50 pairs in each box. These boxes are going quickly at just $50 each! That’s only $1 a pair, and your purchase will go directly to helping those in need throughout Greater Rochester.
Your organization’s support will be recognized in our Spring newsletter, our social media platforms, and possibly in a press release. We also create a customized flyer for you to use to promote your food drive!Please email maureen.hill@use.salvationarmy.org ASAP if you want to be an “Eclipsing Hunger” location leading up to April 8th. With your participation, this campaign will truly be out of this world!
