Each year, The Salvation Army in Rochester provides more than 30,000 nights of lodging to those in need.

Services For Those Experiencing Homelessness

Always a helping hand in times of need, The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester offers free, temporary shelter and other services to those experiencing homelessness. Our weekend food truck, The Canteen, can be found traveling the streets of Rochester to provide hot meals, warm blankets and other supplies/support to the homeless in our community. Our free haircuts, holiday dinners, weekly spiritual services and other community activities are open to everyone.

Our three shelters in Monroe County provide almost 100 beds, some of which are designated for veterans.

These shelters offer spiritual and physical care, food, and shelter to people in need. They attend to the needs of the individual and are meant to be a kind resting place to help those in need get back on their feet. Our continuing efforts assist the homeless population in finding a stable living environment and supporting their goals; be it finding employment, continuing education, living independently or returning to their families.

Thanks to generous donations, The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester provides over 30,000 nights of lodging each year. People who come to us for assistance will be served according to their needs and our capacity to help - regardless of race, religious beliefs, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
